The scanning technology in the Genius Scan SDK has been around for 15 years and fine-tuned with the feedback of millions of users who scan billions of documents every year. On the other hand, Apple introduced the scanning module in VisionKit with iOS 13 and it hasn’t changed much since.
Genius Scan is faster, more accurate and performs better in low-light conditions. With VisionKit, you have to combine several components to build a fully-featured document scanner while Genius Scan gives you everything in one line, from PDF generation to OCR and structured data extraction. It’s also available cross-platform while VisionKit is restricted to iOS.

For clean, well-lit documents, VisionKit can look good enough. That last 10% is what matters in production. Genius Scan stays fast and reliable even when lighting, perspective or document boundaries are less than ideal, so more users finish the scan on the first try instead of abandoning the flow.
