Genius Scan SDK
The scanning technology in the Genius Scan SDK has been around for years and fine-tuned with the feedback of millions of users who scan billions of documents every year. On the other hand, Google introduced ML Kit just last year, and it’s still in beta.
Genius Scan is faster, more accurate and performs better in low-light conditions. Our legibility filters outsmart Google’s. In particular, they produce documents that look like flatbed scanned documents, while ML Kit merely applies contrast and saturation adjustments.
If you are looking for customization, Genius Scan SDK is the way to go. ML Kit is a single block with few options. The Genius Scan SDK is also available cross-platform while ML Kit is restricted to Android.

For clean, well-lit documents, ML Kit can look good enough. That last 10% is what matters in production. Genius Scan stays fast and reliable even when lighting, perspective or document boundaries are less than ideal, so more users finish the scan on the first try instead of abandoning the flow.
